1. Who we are
PYP – Pick Your Pic ("PYP", "we", "our") is a web application that helps you scan, restore and preserve printed photographs. It is operated by an individual developer based in Uruguay. Contact: malgorta@gmail.com
2. What data we collect and why
Google account information
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile picture from Google. This information is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage to display your profile in the app. It is never sent to any PYP server.
Photos you scan
Photos are processed entirely in your browser. The original image and any restored version are kept in memory only while the app is open. They are never uploaded to PYP servers.
Your gallery
The "My Gallery" feature stores your scanned photos locally in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device.
Preferences
We store one preference in localStorage: your selected restoration mode (keep original / colorize). Nothing else.
3. Google Photos integration
If you choose to save a photo to Google Photos, PYP will request permission to add photos to your Google Photos library (scope: photoslibrary.appendonly). This permission allows us to upload photos on your behalf. We can only add new photos — we cannot read, modify or delete any existing content in your library.
The Google Photos access token is stored in your browser's sessionStorage and is automatically deleted when you close the tab.
PYP's use of information received from Google APIs complies with the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. Third-party AI processing (Replicate)
When you click "Restore", your photo is transmitted to Replicate, a third-party AI platform, to apply restoration. Replicate processes the image to return a result. We do not control Replicate's data retention practices; please review their Privacy Policy for details. The restored image is sent back to your browser and is not stored by PYP.
5. Analytics
PYP uses Google Analytics to understand how the application is used in aggregate (page views, feature usage, session duration). Google Analytics may use cookies or similar tracking. No personally identifiable information is linked to analytics data. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6. Cookies and local storage
PYP does not use cookies. We use the browser's localStorage and sessionStorage APIs to store data locally on your device. You can clear this data at any time from your browser settings.
7. Data sharing
We do not sell, rent or share your personal information with third parties, except:
- Google — to authenticate you and to save photos to your Google Photos account, per your request.
- Replicate — to process photos for AI restoration, per your request.
- Google Analytics — aggregate, anonymized usage data only.
8. Data retention and deletion
Since PYP stores data only in your browser, you are in full control:
- Clear your browser's site data to remove your gallery, profile and preferences instantly.
- Revoke Google Sign-In access at any time via Google Account Permissions.
- Revoke Google Photos access independently from the same page.
9. Children's privacy
PYP does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app has no age restriction but is not directed at children. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us so we can address it.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, notify users through the app. Continued use of PYP after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
